Kewpie Bear #2

Kewpie Bear #2
This is the second Kewpie Bear in my Limited Edition Series. Each teddy will be from the same pattern but a different mink, so each teddy will be unique.

To see details and more photos of this teddy please go to my Adoption Website (Waiting List Adoption page).

I must say this I absolutely LOVE the vintage blond mink jacket that I used for this teddy. I wish all of my vintage minks were of this quality: dense and fluffy hairs that were a dream to scissor sculpt. But most important the pelt was soooo easy to hand sew, it was more like sewing fabric than a leather pelt. My hands did not hurt at all after hand-sewing this entire teddy.
I have visions of the rest of this mink jacket eventually becoming a polar cub, a panda, and maybe some mice ... or maybe I'll design something entirely new... we'll see.

I want to thank my friend and fellow teddy bear artist, Linda Hearn, for sending me this wonderful mink for me to create some of my favorite creatures.

Introducing Kewpie Bear series

Introducing "Kewpie Bear":

The original Kewpies were born in the imagination of artist Rose O’Neill in the early 1900s. They came to her in a dream. Rose called the tiny fairies Kewpies because it was short for Cupid. She reasoned that “cupid gets you into trouble and the Kewpies get you out”. The purpose of these tiny elves is to do good deeds in a funny way.

I’ve given my Kewpie Bear some of the same features as Rose’s Kewpies: a plump protruding tummy, big eyes, no neck, a big head, very round features, and if you look on top of it’s head you will find a top-notch (wisps of hair that stand straight up).

Update post

New teddy almost ready to post for adoption:

I'm still working on the photos of my new teddy but I will be posting it for adoption tonight or tomorrow morning (Pacific Time). I did this little sketch of the teddy to put on it's box. It is a "Kewpie Bear". I was inspired to create this new teddy design because of these kewpie charms. Each Kewpie Bear will be wearing one of these little charms:

Please follow this link to my Adoption Website to watch for my Kewpie Bear post.

New props ... new inspiration:

I've purchased a small collection of miniature shoes... possibly the inspiration for a fashion teddy that loves shoes?????
