Work in Progress ...

Work in Progress: I'm working on eight custom teddy bears!

It is rare for me to work on multiple teddies at the same time. I prefer to work on and finish one teddy at at time. But I had a Custom Order for eight teddies from one mink coat and when the Olympics were on television I realized that working on this order ... like an assembly line ... was the perfect thing to do! By the end of the Olympics I had all eight bears cut out and sewn together (this is the most time consuming part since I prefer to hand sew). Now I need to stuff, assemble and sculpt, so I still have a lot to do but, to be honest, I was able to finish the most boring part while enjoying the Olympics.

I have also started sculpting again ... this is good exercise for my hands which are permanently numb and sore from hand sewing leather pelts for the past 26 years.

These are hiking sticks!

Custom Heirloom Teddy

Custom Heirloom Teddy for Barbara

What am I working on next?

For the next few months I am going to concentrate on trying to get caught up with the many Custom Heirloom Teddy orders that I have accepted over the last two years. Barbara sent me her fur stole December of 2012 ... which means that I am finally starting on my custom orders that I accepted in 2013 !

I actually have many new design ideas that I would like to create but before I start designing new creations I just need to finish as many Custom Orders as possible. In the meantime I am filling my sketchbook with lots of new ideas. For example, for Halloween I would have made a Mink Bat if I had the time ... so that's on my "To Do" list.

If you have any suggestions for new mink animal designs please send me an email with your suggestion. Some of the suggestions that I have received in the past that I would like to design in the near future are:
badger, squirrel, chipmunk, meerkat, and red panda. These are all on my "To Do" list for future creations, so keep watching my Blog for announcements of my newest designs.
